Grant Park Summer Shade Festival

This weekend was the 9th Annual Summer Shade Festival featuring Corks and Forks, a fine food and wine tasting event www.grantpark.org.  Today a few friends and I decided to go and check them out, we were enticed by the food and wine tasting more than anything else!  They featured dishes from various restaurants in the Atlanta area, such as: Murphy’s Atlanta Restaurant, Bakery and Wine Shop, who had some yummy cookies on display, The Family Dog, who had an awesome sweet fruit infused mixed drink and a pulled chicken sandwich sample that left me wanting more.  They also had some all time favorites like Legal Seafoods that featured a salmon moose with cucumber and capers, and Season 52 that featured their tempting desserts of which I had a double dose of carrot cake, yum!  The decor was a shabby chic look, captured below..which went well with the cool breeze and warm sun under the covered pavilion.

After the wine and food tasting portion ended, we followed up with a stroll through the park and got a chance to check out some vendors and their booths.  There were some cool paintings, pictures, sweet smells, and sweet tastes.

This was a cool photo featured by one of the many talented vendors.  I did not, however, get the name of the artist for this one.

The sweet smells featured above are from Mama Handmade Bath+Body Boutique Studio located in Decatur, GA and online @ http://www.loveyourmama.com.  The scent is called Zen and is a blend of Lemongrass and Chinese Ginger essential oils.  Also featured is Exhilaration which is a blend of Rosemary and Peppermint, the two oils are a definite favorite of mine, and blended together they provide many aromatherapy benefits that are sure to refresh your senses.

Featured above is a breathtaking piece done by Beth Petri, Without a Brush.  This artists literally paints with her hands and stated that the faces imprinted develop after she has the paint on the canvas, she lets them reveal themselves.  I thought this was true artistry and look forward to making my own purchase in the future.  You can find out more @ http://www.withoutabrush.com.

On my way out I stopped by this sweet honey stand, produced by Hidden Springs Farm, LLC.  You can find them @ http://www.hsffarm.com.  I do love honey,  I think it’s a sweeter alternative to sugar, and it’s better for you!

So that was my afternoon, well spent I say.  I  do enjoy new experiences and all that Atlanta has to offer in terms of good eats, great wines, and wonderful art!
